Toucam 1.25" adapter to Pixel Plus webcam.... was created by 11" Astrophotograph
I've used some sticky tape to stick the Philips Pixel Plus webcam to the Toucam Pro 1.25" adapter, so the webcam is at prime focus.....

Would the Pixel Plus be good at Prime Focus for High-Magnification :?:

Thx :)

You can get a 1.25 adapter from Steven Mogg. This is the Philips SPC900NC and is the direct replacement for the Toucam Pro. Same quality.

I really dont think that arrangment is going to be steady enough to get high resolution images. Firstly you should not use the star diagnol as this just adds to the instability. Try and find a more stable way to mount the adaptor. , get rid of the star diagnol and you should be fine.

I ordered one from this guy on e-bay:
cgi.ebay.ie/1-25-telescope-adapter-for-P...QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
It arrived on Friday, I spent saturday adapting the SPC900NC and did my first image last night. The adapter (including postage) cost less than €20 so it's a no brainer, and it arrived only a week after ordering - this guy is clean no need to worry about ripoffs.
If you need any info modifying the Pixel Plus or even getting inside it see the link below:

Look around, you'll find a section under DIY on the Philips Pixel Plus.
This is a step by step guide - you can't go wrong. By the way to get rid of that annoying white LED, I simply drilled it with a rotary tool - I wasn't going to try to de-solder it as you'd probably do more damage. Here's my first ever image: (excuse the green, and poor focus it was just to prove the thing worked.)

On the magnification side, I couldn't get the whole moon in my FOV at prime, even without a barlow. It will all depend on your scope specs. Focal length, F ratio etc. as to what mag you get at prime focus (I think - I'm new to this so I can't be sure, but it feels right.)

Quite right Dave. Get the mogg adapter and be done with it - stop arsing about with sticky tape! :D May be interesting to try out but you need to take the lens off and use the web camera prime focus from telescope mirror direct to CCD chip.

I use a diagonal for a bit more magnification (I think it does that) and is easy for using an eyepiece to centre the subject but you need to make sue the diagonal is collimated or that the telescope is colliamted when the diagonal is in place.
