Hi, maybe another silly question but.....

A few months ago I got myself a celestron Power plant. (You know the one with the big lamp at the front). Seems to be working excelently so far. But my question is this... I have never had to charge it up after weeks and weeks of use. It came fully charged and if I plug in the charger that came with it it wont allow me to recharge it.(I mean the light that is supposed to come on to say that it is recharging when you flick the switch to recharge has never come on so far)

I guess I am just wondering is this is normal. Is it is just being clever in only allowing me to recharge when it is near empty?

David - what do you use the power tank to power? Also, how often and for how long do you power the item(s)?

My standard car starter batter pack will remain charged until I use it. But when I do use it, it lasts just one night. I then just charge it over the next day. Of course, it depends how often I'm slewing the scope but one night is about all I'd get. I don't use a dewheater.

It'll let me charge if there is any dip at all - a green light comes on when its finished charging and I then unplug it...

I know none of this helps you, but an alternative experience may at least highlight some other things you could consider...

Turn the light on for a few hours. If the recharge light still does not come on even then.... you probably have a fault somewhere in the charger chain and your battery will eventually go flat.

Hi David,
I also bought the same power pack and on occasion it will not give a red light display, but will still be charging! I get about one to two nights out of it before it needs a recharge. I often drain it completly by leaving the main light on for several hours and then recharge it. I have not got that much use from it yet, as I have just completed my shed conversion (Star Shack) and need to spend some time polar aligning the C6 NGT and putting the finishing touches to the Shack! :D Alas the weather is constantly against me over the past few weeks!
