Change of mind!!, now I dont, Apparently ther designers of the mad max designed it for the 16" in mind and will not endorse its use with the 20" scope.
AND meade are been sued for using the Ritchey-Chretien term in the RCX scope
In a lawsuit filed with The U.S. District Court, Southern District of
New York, September 28th, RC Optical Systems and Star Instruments
allege that Meade, it's employees, and it's dealers are enganging, to
quote directly from the suit, "a scheme to defraud or obtain money by
means of false or fraudulent pretenses or representation, by which they
falsely represent to the public generally and to amateur astronomy
enthusiasts in particular that the Meade RCX400 Series and Meade LX200R
series telescopes are Ritchey-Chretien telescopes incorporating Ritchey-
Chretien optics". They claim that their losses to date from this are in
excess of $800,000.

I would have thought that telescope designs would be in the public domain. By RC systems suing mMeade, I assume they hold a patent for the RC design, (no point in suing otherwise). I wonder what other patents are held in private ownership! Maybe celestron own SCT's or worse still Isaac Newtons great great great (add some more) grandson holds the patent for newts!

Funny thing here is that they are suing them for misleading their customers, false advertising, calling a scope a RC when it is not.
Even the optics designer calls it an "aplantic schmidt cassegrain" and not a RC...

Ahh I see, so its not a patent suit. I thought they called it a modified RC.
