hmmm....
The Explora-dome Story
It all started when several amateur astronomers began modifying an existing farm product to use as an observatory dome (without the calf or feeder).

I have just been informed by the department of agriculture that one can aply for a grant with them given the dome's dual purpose.
Contact Getty Skinny at the department.
Have fun,

I've known about exploradome for some time. It has been "coming
soon" for quite some months now.
The non motorization or even the robotization might well be a weakness in their design, they don't seem to have considered motorization/robotic use from the outset so they might well find it harder than they think. There are alot more amateurs now interested in motorization and even robotizing with the range of COTS software available.
I'd also like to see how they hold the dome down. I
would want to see how the structure performs in the wind and how
weatherproof it is. But still, the design has come on a long way since
last time I looked so maybe they will do a good job. It is almost an
order of magnitude cheaper than the next major competitor (poor
marketing!) If the Department of Agriculture can grant aid at least 50% then it is a snap. Mind you you may have to hire a couple of animals in case the inspector comes around.

There's been alot of talk about this on CloudyNights. Been following it on and off over the last few months. Beware, however, the thread is 47 pages long!
www.cloudynights.com/ubbthreads/showflat...5/o/all/fpart/1/vc/1
It will be a great price once it's ready.
