Dew Removal - Which is better was created by Keith g
Ah! good ol' dew - now not the alcoholic type  But, what do you think of these on how to get rid of it while observing?
www.scsastro.co.uk/it040055.htm
The dew zapper, but would deplete your power quickly?
or

The dew remover gun, but this is also heavy on power/
Do any of you use either?
Keith..

Keith - as ever its horses for courses...
Personally, before I got the Kendrick gizmos, I used the better half's hairdryer on the cool setting. I just ran it from an extension cable direct from mains power. It workd fine but you need to take care with the heat setting and be wary of blowing dust all over the corrector. I wouldn't use it directly on a mirror (e.g. Newtonian).
The SCS hairdryer looks good but as the ad says, it would run down your field battery very quickly. Save your money and borrow a standard hairdryer.
If you go down the route of the dew bands, I think that would be the better choice. I couldn't see from the ad how the temperature of the band is controlled (or if it is just full-on when plugged in). But I'd go for that option than the hairdryer one. Less user-input and gentler on your battery.
Cheers
Dave

I use the Kendrick dew system as well, and I can say that it is very good.
Check out the info on the kendrick site, it gives load for each strip, so you can work out your power requirments.
Later,
Jed.

Dew belts on their own will not prevent dew forming, only when used with a dew shield do I find belts effective.
Get the belt and a standard main hair dryer, I have one in the dome, its rarely used but its a real life saver when its needed, obviously treat a mains hair dryer with respect and prevent if from getting wet..
A battery powered hair dryer will suck the batteries dry.
