Robofocus - removing focus knob off refractor was created by michaeloconnell
Hi All,

Well, my Robofocus motors arrived in the last couple of days. I've installed one on the WO focuser at the back of the 12". Now, I need to install one on the Pentax. For this to happen, I need to remove one of the focus knobs. Whilst this was very straight forward on the WO focuser, it's a little more complex, to me at least, on the Pentax. Below are a couple of images of the focuser:

Firstly, what's the purpose of the two hex screws on the main body?
Secondly, in terms of the hole in the silver part of the focuser, there are three of these opes evenly spaced on the focuser. They don't rotate when the focuser rotates. They don't appear to have a hex screw - no screw in fact I reckon. Any ideas??

Cheers,

maybe the hole is for alignment purposes during manufacturing, don't know why else they'd bother?

Michael - seems we had some local internet probs here.

The holes are probaly what Dave L says - alignment for manufacturing and serve no further purpose (probably). As for the two hex screws, I'd imagine they release the whole focusing mechanism.

Perhaps just try the hex screws right next to the focus knobs - I'd leave the rest alone.

Do you have a manual?

That's what I was thinking - which is what I don't want to do

These don't appear to be hex screws - at least not with my eyesight anyway. Just small holes.

Do you have a manual?

Yes! Anyone here read Japanese? :)
