Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better programs, and the universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the universe is winning.

I was browsing the internet when I came across this link:
www.seeviewo.org/catalog/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=7 .
They are offering a 150mm f/5 refractor OTA for £259, I have never heard of Phenix and at £259 for a 150mm scope I would wonder about the quality.

I've seen the same question asked on another board somewhere. The only replies were that noone seemed to know about the large aperture ones but that the 4 inch ones were actually very good. Mind you, that could have referred to the F10 version.
Just noticed the 6 incher is F5!!!! There must be masses of CA in there, unless used at very low powers.

I think I know someone who got one, a 6", from them about 2 years ago. We took it out (I was helping him), and found that with the accompanying eyepieces, there was loads of chromatic aberration. He hasn't taken it out since I think - more for lack of time and willingness to try I think.

Phenix is a Chinese state-owned company that makes cameras, scopes, binoculars and microscopes. They are also the original manufacturers of some US-branded budget to mid-range telescopes. Quality depends on cost - because quality costs, and Phenix are capable of manufacturing anything from bog standard to high quality products, depending entirely on how much they will be sold for. At that price I would want to look before buying unless I particularly trusted the vendor.
