2x Barlow was created by gbyrne
Hi,

I was told that to get good images using webman/neximage of saturn for example to either use a powermate or alternatively use a two "2x barrows".

Has anyone ever tried this?

Thanks,
Gary

Gary, I've only ever used a Meade 2x apochromatic barlow.

To get a good image from two 2x barlows would require very
good seeing conditions.
You will also run the risk of vignetting by joining two seperate pieces together.
A better solution would be something like a Televue 4x or 5x powermate.

Keep us posted on your decision.

I use the Meade 2x apo barlow and the 3x cheapo shorty barlow (works surprisingly well) and the 3x teleview barlow, I would consider them essential for planetary imaging.
I use them with my toucam pro, but the advantage would be the same with your imager

Hi

A barlow is almost essential especially for Saturn as otherwise it will appear rather small. But if you use a barlow you will need to be sure that your scope's tracking and weather conditions are good as any drifting, backlash, wind etc. will result in Saturn drifting out of the webcam field. So some nights will not be good for webcaming and your beter off enjoying the visual sky. Main thing is to try it and see what happens. :)

Thanks for the info lads. Im probably going to go for a 5x powermate, still got to do some research on it. Im off to the US in a couple of weeks go hopefully get it then and save myself a few $$!
