Thanks Trev,
Just to give an idea of the M13 view, here is an obsession comparison page for differing apertures, and I can tell you they don't exaggerate!
www.obsessiontelescopes.com/m13/index.html
also, star spikes are very visible when looking at stars like vega and Archturus, I've never really seen them before, they are so delicate, images don't do then justice.
Would you believe, I was looking at that very pic last night. I must get my skates on and start building my 12"
Cheers
Trevor

The ladder I'm using at the moment is too small, so aren't I lucky that lidl are selling a nice step ladder with an accessories try on top next Thursday.

Handy for the eyepieces !
Michael, I dont know when I'll just happen to be "passing" by next

Funny thing there Matthew, I've seen these adds also and there was an 18" version which sold for more then I payed for the 20", I figured it was because you dont need a ladder for the 18" and is more portable.Ive seen about 4 of these on astrobuysell!
Many clear skies!
Matthew
There was also another 20" dob for nearly 5K sterling, which I think is way over the odds, even though it was a goto. For a scope this big, I (currently!) don't think its worth the effort to get a goto system for it as I never will be doing deep sky photography with it.
if you think the 20" is big, have a look at
paragrama.net/manalokos/view_photo.php?s...um05&id=merakkkk
(not real BTW), and some more astro humour

Excellent. I've been looking for a comparison like that for ages. Just getting the last few parts together to build my own 12.5" Truss tube & that image will spurn me on even more!

after our little 'experiment' with the webcam last night, I did a little digging...
have you heard of the 'ServoCat'?
www.servocat.com/Pages/servocat.html
They are espically suited for large dobs like the Obsession.
Some of the pic's you can get thru it are amazing for a dob!
www.obsessiontelescopes.com/gallery/index.html
Plus the fact that you can concentrate on the object and
not be tweaking the whole scope all the time...
(or need three people to capture an image!)
for about 1200 euro it would make a big Dob like yours
one killer scope!
(not that it isn't anyway but you git my drift)
By the way , did you make it up to Boher again last night?
