collomation with artifical star was created by fguihen
Its raining, and i wont get to use my scope this weekend,so i decided to sort out my collomation issues. From reading tutorials and from advice here and on cloudy nights, i created an artifical star.
Its just a torch, preferably a super bright white led. I cover the front with aluminium foil. i create a tiny hole in this, using a needle that i have filed as thin as possible without it breaking. then i placed the torch at a distance of 11 metres ( roughly 36 feet) which i hope is enough. I then collomated until the concentric circles were perfect right the way through both sides of the focus. the true test will be the next observing night. i feel the 36 feet might be a little short, but i defo couldnt resolve the point of light in my 6" sct. il let you know if it turned out well the next observing night. o, i also fitted my new telrad!!! cant wait to use that baby!

Nice one, it sounds like you have it pretty bang on.
It will be interesting to see how it performs under the stars.
