got myself one of the Meade LXD-75 scopes Lidl were selling just before Christmas. So far it's gong very well for me and I didn't suffer any of the motor problems others seem to have had. The scope came with a 26mm eyepiece which is good for general observations but I'm now thinking of getting myself some eyepieces.

I'm off to the states in December so I was going to pick up one of the Meade series 4000 box sets there which comes with the following bits;
•
6.4mm, 9.7mm, 12.4mm, 15.0mm, 32.0mm & 40.0mm Super Plössl Eyepieces (1.25")
•
#126 2x Short-Focus Barlow Lens (1.25")
•
#1 Series 4000 1.25" Color Filter Set (#12 Yellow, #23A Light Red, #58 Green & 80A Blue)
•
ND96 Series 4000 1.25" Moon Filter.

My scope is a 6" Newtonian. The box set sells for $299. As I'm a beginner I'd like to know if those of you who are more experienced think this set is worth getting and what the Series 4000 eyepieces are like in general.

If you have other recommendations, I'd love to hear them.

Thanks,
Noel

I'd say go for it. I've a similar set that I got from meade when they were doing a promotion a couple of years back and I find them fine. I've seen through others peoples more specialized eyepieces and while there is a big difference in some cases the price reflects it. For a $299 set you can't go too far wrong with whats listed above, especially with the filters thrown in. I'd have though a set like that would be more expensive.
