Cleaning DSLR Chip was created by michaeloconnell
Hi All,

I'm wondering what products people use to clean the chip of their DSLR. Mine needs a good cleaning and rather than buying some inferior product, I'd like to know what DSLR owners here recommend as I don't want to scratch the filter in front of the lens when cleaning.

Cheers,

I cleaned mine with a clean cotton bud, it worked quite well, just don't be too vigorous with it.

Lads, just on this.
I seem to be getting spots on my pictures in light areas.
Lets just say I have the lens off and I take a shot.
It looks ok.
With the lens on I do the same and I can see (one in particular)
but if I do a level adjust I can see loads.
I'm guessing it's something on the inside of the lense ad
the outside is clean.
Any ideas?

I do remember from art college we had a problem with
the college cameras (pentax slr's) and they had mould spots...

Michael,
I have only once needed to clean my 300D, it had an annoying blotch in the same place in any image with blue sky in it. I just opened the mirror and with the camera inverted, (so that any dust that I loosened would fall out) I used the air bellows part of a camera cleaning brush to give a couple of quick blasts on to the sensor. That was 2 years ago and all has been perfect since.

I'm guessing it's something on the inside of the lense ad
the outside is clean

I would be surprised if anything in the lens would show up as a local blemish on an image, more likely on the CCD filter, could be wrong though.

Frank, sounds like dirt on the cmos sensor of the camera, if it was dirt on the lens, you'd see it.

When you turn off the Canon EOS 400d you can feel the camera vibrating to shake any dust off the sensor.

A message pops up on the screen "Sensor Cleaning".

Don't know if it really works or not.

Peter.
