webcams and mars again

Hi,

I restacked my avi file of Mars from Saturday night. The coulour shifting capabilities of registax 2(patched) seemd bit (well a lot!) buggy, so I resorted to photoshop to align the RGB layers manually and then did quite a bit of level adjustment and other tweaking to get the final image in:

LXD55 10"SN 2x barlow, touCam pro. 80A filter. This is more than I was able to make out visually, and its not bad for a scope thats not meant to be good at planetary viewing

I havent had a chance to experiment more to see where the colour offsets are originating from, though replies on several fourms I've posted to have pointed to atmospheric refraction. Apparently a common and frustrating issue for imaging objects below about 40 degrees altitude. I'm happy enough now that I can get ok images (need more detail!) and the scopes optics are ok.

Not bad...not bad at all ! You should have seen my effort at imaging Mars....let's just say you'd never guess in a million years it was Mars!! Yours, however is good. Well done!
By the way, i'm just wondering, what would happen if you stacked a blue and red filter and took a video clip of mars. Would this help reduce the chromatic effect we had discussed earlier....obviously you won't have a red planet but would the detail be any sharper???
