Hey all
I have the possibilty of picking up a Meade AR5, 5" f/9.3 refractor quite cheap, does anyone have any experience of this scope?
I already have a Meade 8" SCT, so would I be wasting my money with this purchase?
Thanks for any input.

I find little difference visually between my very old Meade 8" 2080 SCT and my 6" RGT Celestron refractor.
(Leaving aside the high technology of the Celestron.).
Next time I'll go for a real "aperture gap".

That's what I figured Peter, also with a tube length of 4 feet, I can imagine that viewing close to the zenith I would be almost lying on the ground, not a nice prospect.
Maybe I'll keep the money and try for a short tube refractor at a later date.
