An entertaining review, seems like the design and build quality is these far east scopes is poor to say the least, its a wonder they are not lined in lead paint.

Reviews and posts on Cloudy Nights sometimes reflect old Cold War prejudices, or perhaps the attitudes of an imperial nation teetering on the brink of decline. You choose which interpretation you prefer. Personally I hope history doesn't prove it to be the latter because that would make a mess of the world economy and become the lead in to a very different era.
A huge percentage of the scopes and accessories sold by the big two American brands and their subsidiaries, and for that matter many other American brands, are made in "The Far East" and the build quality tends to reflect how much the brand is willing to pay to the contract manufacturer. Though I expect that the review is truthful it doesn't make any reference to the many excellent instruments that are made by contractors in the same region and gives an inaccurate impression of the technical abilities available in the area.
