I have been chatting with Clay for the past few months on another MB
and was intrigued by the 'supercharge' servivce he offers.
I was thinking the ETX-125 would be an outstanding scope if he
kicked out the bugs.

Hve any of you lot ever sent a scope off to him?

I've seen it add value to resales too so I guess it'd be no harm.

He does do alot to the scope but I would email him describing what you experience with the mount and see if he can realistically remedy it.

I would use his service more of as a post production QA check to make sure the scope you are getting is not a dud optically or mechanically. We are along way from the Meade factory over here.

Ok, I'm definatly getting the Supercharge done.
With the Dollar so low its only 190Euro + shipping.

I was worried he wouldn't fix some things broken on mine but
Clay will basically fix anything with the ETX (within reason of course)
as long as you give him a list of the issues.

In the past he's repaired sheared worm gears, snapped clutches, dec & alt locks, broken focus knobs, & baffles.

NOW, here is the real issue...
Shipping...
Has anyone ever sent a scope to the US before and if so..
What shipping co. did you use and what happens on the return
with customs...
Is there any chance they will think its a new import and try and charge you for it?

Hey Frank,

You've already paid vat on your scope so you shouldn't have to pay more.If you ask him to specify "repairs" on the return invoice you shouldn't get charged customs. I had this done for some camera repairs I had done in the US before and didn't have any problems - even though it was shipped by courier.

Thanks Trev.
I'll hash it out with him in detail before I send it.
