EQ6 RA Shaft was created by mlkcampion
Hey
Well i went about take the RA head apart, everything went well, gears looked ok and i regreased them more for the sake of it really. No stress until putting the blasted thing back together. I have the gear box reassembled but iam trying place the shaft back into the mount, after a bit work i get it back in but the RA seems to be very tight, its definately not as free as it was. I have tried about tens times but keep ending up with the same result. I can describe it a bit better to someone who has taken apart an EQ6 before.
Can anyone help me out here??
Really appreciate it!!
Thanks

I've taken an EQ6 apart a few years ago. I remember that indeed the RA shaft was very hard to get back into its housing. If memory serves me the ra bearing, which really is a collar MUST be put back perfectly straight. However I remember that once you get it in place it should move freely enough. Maybe you put too much grease on, all you need is a very thin layer? I also remember one time I managed to get it stuck at an angle and had to give it a right old bang of a wooden mallet to free it.
Also be careful that no dirt has ingressed an causing that cylindrical collar to stick.
