We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time. . . .

Hi Mat,
The add in your link is for a 4.8mm type1 eyepiece, this 4.8 has a reputation of been very sharp but having a very small amount of eye relief.
The type6 7mm has good eye relief and I can say from personal experiance that it is a fantastic eyepiece, built for the planets and for delving into globular clusters alike.

I've a 7mm type 6 Nagler too, and I haven't used it to a great degree.
I find it difficult to get the focus just right, as the image isn't the brightest, even with brighter planets such as Saturn this year.
Eye relief is pretty good though, but maybe I need a monster Dob to make the most of it.

Dependant on the size of objective you're using too I'd imagine? I mean, with your Obsessionator, it could allow for one heck of a "Wow..." moment. Like Eamonn says above, eye relief is pretty good, but you might need a monster Dob to make the most of it.

Any time I've used it, I've been disappointed.

Its a pity to hear that, with the 20" the 7mm and M13 in Hercules, the cluster fills the entire field of view and the planets are glaringly bright, but I guess its not a fair comparison comparing a 12" scope and a 20" scope.
