any word on the bressier binos/scopes in lidl this year?

Does anyone know if the bressier binos are comming back to lidl this year? I need another set or two of those and I know a few people who require a set also.

They got them in last March if I remember correctly here in the North

They dont seem to be doing the Maids a Milking, or the Partridge in a Pear Tree but maybe they reckon they wont have space for these with all the above....

Partridge droppings and milk would probably ruin the optics anyway.

Nice price on the Messier R-102. Lidl are selling it for €329.99. The same scope and mount is currently selling in the UK for up to £349.99 (€534.27) and according to the Bresser website the RRP for Germany and Austria is €499. The 10,15 & 25mm Plossls are an excellent starter set of eyepieces when combined with the 2x Barlow.

The mount might be a little lightweight but if you already have an LXD75 and have a hankering for a 4" refractor... set your AutoStar for the AR-5 AT and it should work perfectly with this tube; however there may still be end-of-line C4R OTAs out there for less. On the other side of the coin the mount & tripod is the same one that Bresser sell with their 150/1200 Newtonian so it should be just strong enough to serve as a non-motorized alternative to the LXD75 if you already have the N6-AT.

Downside? It looks like it has a 1.25" focuser although I did find one web page on telescopy.pl that describes it as 2" with a 1.25" reducer. Even though it's a 4" f/9.8 tube and therefore not a wide field instrument a 2" focuser would be nice.

Nice price. But do I need yet another tripod? The devil of it is is that I have been hankering after a 4" refractor, someone at Lidl has been reading my mind...

whats your opinions on the skulux refractor in blue ( no name given on site) ? ive played with a friends one and it seems not bad at all in dark skies. picked up staurn very very well and even a tiny bit of detail on jupiter. i thought it wasnt a bad scope, and for the price... a lot of plastic bits on it that should be metal though..

I use a Vixen-manufactured Orion star diagonal, Plossl eyepieces and a Baader Fringe Killer filter with it and it's fine. Even without exchanging the diagonal and filter it's good for the price and the chromatic abberation is not objectionable unless you're a purist. The principle drawback with the kit is that the 4mm eyepiece is pretty useless and it doesn't include a proper Barlow.

The focuser/drawtube isn't strong enough for heavy eyepieces such as Hyperions. But then I use it on nights with a lot of dew, when I don't want my better quality gear to get soaked.

Skylux is the name of a mostly discontinued Bresser line. They order a new run of this model from their Chinese contractors for Lidl every year. Note: there's an error in the description. The mount will accept a single axis drive but it's not motorised.
