Dew Control Advice required was created by wellbuttie
Hi all.......

Looks like Santa, will be bringing me Dew control equipment this year.....in order to avoid my "borrowing" of SWMBO 's hair dryer, which I currently use with my Dew Shield.

With this in mind, I am looking at the Kendrick V7 controller, with the 11 inch Dew Not strip for my CGE11 inch.

For what I can gather, these seem to be powered via the "Cigarette lighter" Plug, while I would prefer to be able to run it from the mains (With an appropriate power supply" as I do with the CGE.

Has anyone any ideas of the best approach to this situation, or indeed any other "more economical" alternatives to going down the Kendrick route.

Merry Xmas........ all!!!

Steve,

The Kendrick gear is just great. However I built my own dew controller complete with temperature sensors and lcd readout. Pretty much everything thats on the kendrick unit. I'm still working on drawing up an article on it complete with DIY plans. If you can wait about a week it will be ready to publish. You will just need to solder stuff on a stripboard. I'll be providing a stripboard diagram and parts list.

Thats the economical route. However the kendrick is a great unit, you can't go wrong with it. The combo with the dew-not strips is excellent.

Must be a lot of dew in teh SE these days. Looking at something myself. The home made dew shield failed last time out. Has anyone tried the US based DEW Buster system?

Steve,

I would also recommend the Kendrick unit which I also use with my equipment.

As for a power source, I would suggest you remain with the 12v adapter and portable power supply so that your set-up will be precisely the same when you are at a remote site. The reason I mention this is due to the fact that it is always easy to forget or be missing something when you have more than one possible configuration at home.

Just a suggestion.

Good point there Anthony. As I mostly observe from Home at the moment, no doubt I will "forget" to charge a portable power supply, hence my "connecting to the mains" question.
