LIDL are selling the MEADE ETX 70 next Monday 22nd Nov for 169 euro
and the Skylux (same as last year but cheaper) for 59.99

That's an excellent deal for the etx-70.
I'm gonna get one I think. Even if you didn't want the scope, it'd be a great mount for a camera.
It's selling at a lower price than what you'd get it for in the US!

For astrophotography, since it's an alt-az, you'd have to put it on a wedge to minimise field-rotation. So, you'd probably need some counterweight to prevent straining the motor.

Any ideas how you'd piggyback a camera on something like that?

Looks like a great deal though... Just don't tell too many people or we'll be fighting for the last boxes.... :wink:

Everyone in Ireland buys Meade, and they all buy them from Lidl.

Ah now to decide which lidl store is likley to have the least astronomers and the most telescopes...

I suppose it is pointless to ring them and ask how many the expect to have in each store?
