Hi folks. I have 3 X-Cel Eyepieces.
Im just wondering if anyone could confirm whether or not they are compatible with Filters. Ive read two posts on other boards saying there not. Just wanted to confirm or deny that. Thanks folks

That's a simple one - if the barrels are threaded for filters they will work. Filters are very straightforward and will work with any eyepiece that you can attach them to, the only potential incompatibility is the absence of threads.
The one thing I can think of that a newbie could mistake for imcompatibility with eyepieces is that some filters block too much light and should only be used with scopes above a given aperture. Check the relevant documentation or website to find out specific information for any filters that you already have.

Like John Says, its a thread thing,
They either have threads or they dont, it'll be very obvious once you look for the threads.

I would have thought myself that if/when you see a threaded eyepiece barrel in this day and age that it is a standard thread, terefore allowing virtually all filters to be threadable into that barrel. Is this not the case?

I can now confirm that the x-cel eyepieces do accept filters. The confusion for me arose when i read an article on amazon.com(a post actually). A user complained that the pieces were incompatible with regular filters. Well i can now say with complete certainty that the user is wrong. They do indeed accept filters. i have tried 3 x-cel eyepieces(21/18/ and they are compatable. i think the trouble started because as some of you might not be aware, these pieces are not manufactured by celestron. they are thirdparty eyepieces sourced in china. all that said there still great value pieces with 20mm eye relief!
