Dave --

I don't have a source. (And I was also worried about the weight.)

For your Dob, I wonder if you could buy large containers of Plasti-Kote? (It's normally sold in hardware stores to dip tool handles in. Kind of a thick plastic paint.)

Do they even sell it over here in Ireland?

Hi Guys ,
Just a few sugestions from the chippie side of things.
To seal the floor you can use torch-on felt on the concrete ,if you use a bitumen primer on the bare concrete,,I wouldn't suggest torching it on for the obvious reason ,but it can be stuck with bitumen adhesive and then cover with 3/4" WBP ply, dont use OSB or chipboard .
If you want the deluxe version you can sandwich a sheet of 1" Kingspan insulation between the ply & the felt on the floor. And dampen vibes from your pier.
This will totally eliminate your floor problems which are caused by cold bridging -even if a vapour barrier is fitted.
As far as the walls and roof are concerned ,I would insulate them, again using the 1" Kingspan (this is the solid yellowish insulation with silver paper on both faces )
With a timber shed it no prob as you cut the insulation in between the uprights inside the shed and then screw on 6,8 or 10mm wbp plywood as your internal wall.Do the same with the roof ,but use the lightest ply available.
The Argos sheds are also doable.
Ist you need to fit timber uprights ,Rough timber 30mm square will suit ,to fix them you'll need some TECH SCREWS ask for the ones to fix metal cladding to wood also as insurance get a tube of TECH 7 (it's a construction mastic adhesive)put a dab of Tech 7 on every 12" and using 3 tech screws ,including rubber washers screw the uprights on through the outside skin of the shed ,you can pre drill the holes so the person inside holding the timber can line it up.You can stick the Kingspan to the ceiling and seal the cut edges with gaffing tape.
The silver will give a very space age feel !!
You will have to make a space high and low for ventilation on opposite sides as was already said, there shouldnt be any condensation probs as with the insulation the temp variations are less ,both summer& winter and the ventilation will still allow the scope to maintain ambient average temp.
Draughts on windy days are not signs of good ventilation as if you have dead air spaces up high you'll still get condensation and no air flow on still days,
Hope this is may help
Eugene

Just struck me ,
A cheap & easy way to seal your shed floor .
Paint on some BITUTINE SEALER(small 4" gloss rollers are great) ,let it dry & then lay some cheap, bathroom or kitchen vinyl, you'll often get very good stuff on end of rolls or end of line offers, this vinyl is heavier & cushioned.
I have this on the timber floor of my own garden shed and it works very well.

I like the vinyl idea. You'll certainly be happy about the cushioning next time you drop an eyepiece or filter....
