Advice Needed: EQ3-2 mount - motor wanted was created by Seanie_Morris
I have the following EQ3-2 mount:

Optical Vision's info page.
It is also called a Sky View Mount on Telescope Service's site .

I want to add a motor drive to this for my Skywatcher 80ED. For anyone with an experienced opinion, if I have the money, should I consider a GOTO drive system for it like what Optical Vision have here:

SynScan GOTO Upgrade (Price: £299).

Or should I just attach an R.A. motor such as that advertised on both Optical Visions and Telescope Service's sites (different prices on each for single and dual axis drives)?

I'd like GOTO, but I don't know if the SynScan does the whole allignment thing or not to ensure some degree of accuracy (like what we're used to with the ETX and LXD's from Meade of late)?

Any advise and opinions welcomed.

Came across the following while adding some new words to my internet search:

www.myastroshop.com.au/guides/synscan-align.pdf

Simply, it is a 2 page document brief about the SynScan usage. It does in fact do a 2 and/or 3 star allignment. Definitely a runner to GOTO an EQ3/3-2 mount.

Now, to debate where to get the funds to buy it...
