Hi all

Now that I have my Maplins 10amp power supply to control my Scope and Dew equipment, a thought occured to me.... Wouldn't it be great to be able to get a device that could also power my 350D from the Maplins supply using a similar cigarette lighter plug.......thus saving the "battery going dead" scenario during imaging.

Any ideas, comments and advice welcome

Thanks

To be fair I don't think battery going dead is really a problem. I'll easily get 2 or 3 nights imaging on a single charge (350D). A spare can be picked up for about €40 and you'll never have to worry again.

Still I get your point, you could make one up using an old battery as a case and stick in some voltage regulator, then make a small hole in your battery door (ouch) to feed out the cable. NO - you don't wanna do that!

Thanks John....

I do have 2 spares alright, however, I have gotten caught out at times when doing multiple long exposures to find a battery going dead during a session (despite showing a full charge in the indicator), therefore loosing a few subs as a result. Then having to start another imaging sequence once I pop in a charged battery....

Its really for peace of mind more than anything (and i suppose to prolong the life of the batteries that I have)

I have three batteries for my 350D and can easliy use all three in a night. I recently purchased a 115v to 7.2v adapter, no worries now about dead batteries.

I use a battery grip which has two batteries which will keep going nearly all day and night but it will add a good bit of weight.
Alternatively, Canon do an AC adapter kit to power off a mains, Canon ACK-DC20 AC Adapter Kit
