Its pricey but I have one and I can't praise it enough. Totally automated (with FocusMax - free software) and talk about fine focusing - 1.25 micron per step and there's 7000 of them. And it'll carry a huge weight - I can;t remeber what the spec is but I have about 4kg hanging off mine...

I recently purchased a Celestron C8N-GT, and am looking to upgrade the focuser for a more photography friendly focuser. I would be interested in hearing anybody's experiences on any suitable low profile focusers. At the moment I am removing the 1.25" adapter and attaching the Camera (350D) directly to the existing focuser using the T-Ring, however this precludes me from using any UHC or LPR filters. Be good to hear of others experiences.
John,
Just to confirm, are you physically attaching the EOS T-ring to the focuser, or, are you simply inserting the T-Adapter into the focuser?
I have an EOS T-ring and a 2" T-adapter. This allows me to insert the 2" T-adapter into the focuser. The 2" adapter can then take screw-on filters. The only thing "sticking out" beyond the focuser is the EOS T-ring and the camera.
Is this of any use to you?

Unfortunately, I don't have any experience with a low profile focuser so can't help you with that one.
