Meade or Skylux - Which do you have? was created by lionsden

IS it possible to get some indication as to how many people are using each system? just an indication?

The question has been asked, and now's your chance to answer it. Which Lidl telescope did you get?
I think it should be interesting to see just how many of them there are out there now. If you have either telescope and didn't get it from Lidl, it doesn't matter, you still count. Just make your selection on the poll above.

Perhap because light travels faster than sound, some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

I was greedy and got both... And actually, they are fairly different beasts but surprisingly (on limited review) are optically equal in my estimation.

I got the Sky-Lux only because they didn't have the Meade one then I would have been torn between the two but being a complete novice it's hard to know what's better there's so much talk on this site about the meade one that I'm beginning to thing I made a bad choice?

Although I am enjoying trying to find my way around the sky...I tired to see Saturn last night but no joy and I was freezing to be honest I thought I saw it but it looked so small that I thought it couldn't be it...(pin head small) what's the best lens to use to first view it.....like any beginner I think I won't be happy till I see it... :x

Nah, I have the skylux and its fine. The people going on about the ETX here (me included!) got them to have a small portable computerised scope. For observing the skylux may have the edge with its longer focal length.

The smallest eyepiece you have will give the biggest magnification, so start with the biggest, center the image, then use a higher power. You should be able to see the ring at least as well as the images myself and Dave uploaded over the weekend, and perhaps also one of its moons Titan also. Its not going to be very big, but you should be able to make out the ring easily.

Hey,

Does anyone here who has the sky-lux have a carrying case for it? I don't like the idea of having to put it back into the cardboard box it came with everytime I go to use it, I'd like to buy or make a carrying case for it??? Was just wondering if any of you guys/gals have bought or made one...if you bought one would you mind saying where and how much??

All other ideas for transporting and storing the scope greatly received....

Cheers
