Location of a Dew Heater control box. was created by donalmcnamara
Hi there, I have been the happy used of a Dew Heater with a two heater strap system for approx two months now. Operationally I am a 'happy camper'. I am using the Dew Buster model on a LXD-75 GEM mounted SCT. Question is generic though for any controller box. Specifically, what is the best location for the controller box?
Initially I velcro'ed the control box to one of the Tripod legs, but I felt I was getting tangled up in a maze of cables. I then tie wrapped it to the bottom rail of the OTA, front end. That was effective but the OTA was difficult to carry. Last night I moved it to the Eyepiece end of the OTA. Now there are less dangling wires to catch on things when transporting and mounting the OTA and its easier to lift.
I would appreciate your thoughts

Hi Donal
I have mine fitted on the tripod pier, and a "lidls best" cable tidy at the eyepiece end of the OTA to route the cables.
Works fine for me

I velcro it to one of the fork arms of my LX90. But the biggest snag is the wire from the controler to the battery which is too short. Requires carefull monotoring throughout the night to ensure it dies not get caught somewhere.
