My next scope is going to be a Vixen VMC200L Catadioptric OTA
Bino mount was created by pj30something
OK so here's the deal.
My birthday is in 4 weeks and i'm compiling a list of things i want as presents.
First and foremost is a bino mount.
The thing about my bins is that the screw to attach them to a mount is at the front end of the bins between the large lens.
The mount i stupidly bought is designed to hold bins where the screw is at the rear.
I now use this mount for my digicam.
The bins only cost €90..................so i really am only looking for a mount that costs the same or less.
What should i be looking for and can i get it here in ireland?

Explain. As far as I know, virtually ALL binoculars come with the mounting threads at the front between the bins. Using an 'L' shaped attachment, you simply screw on your binoculars, and slide/screw the fixture onto your mount/camera tripod.
Have you got a picture of your mount?

I'll attach my bins to my mount and show you what i mean tomorrow
Basically the mount i have makes my bins great for bird watching..........and not much else.
Is there a difference between a bino mount and a cam mount?
The one i have works GREAT for a cam........................................useless for my bino's.

Just one point PJ. I presume you already bought the Tripod? I would highly recommend a counterbalance mount for binos:
they allow easier viewing at zenith, without observers body getting in the way
They can be home-made or shop bought. there are loads of ideas on the net if you just google "bino mount".
And just as a comment on tripods, i bought a tripod but found it too light for my binos - however tripod was cheap and nasty, while binos were quite heavy

Thats what i thought but was wrong. I have tried to configure it to work with my bins by turning things around and upside down etc............
No joy.
