I'm not rushing into anything. I've had it in mind for a couple of months now. I like what i've read about the scope and am more then happy to part with my cash for it.
There is always gonna be bigger and better scopes but that doesnt mean i should buy them just because they are bigger and better.
more expensive doesnt always mean better. I think one and a half grand for a scope is pretty expensive for a scope (in MY opinion) even though there are more expensive ones out there.

I have been thinking about what you said about buying a new scope at this time of year when the nights are getting shorter and shorter and i have to say that i can see that you are sooooooo right. To buy now would be a bit of a waste of money when there is so much more i can do with the same money over the summer.
Therefor i have decided to hold off buying the new scope right now and i will wait til the autumn when the nights are darker.
I still want the same scope, so its not a case of saving up more money and buying a bigger/better scope.
I just aint gonna buy it right now.
I mean it really doesnt get dark here during the summer til nearly 11pm...........so at most i may get 1-2 hours use on a good night.
Thanks for your logic thoughts. Its not often someone can talk me out of something i want to do.
It just makes more sense right now to leave it til the nights are darker.

Hi Paul
One thing you might think of is buying a solar scope. I don't have too much time for Astronomy at present but I use my PST every clear day. It is superportable on a table top mount and would greatly increase the amount of Astronomy you get done.
You could also look at the Lunt offerings if you are more ambitious. I am seeing quite a number of proms and the disk detail is surprisingly good as we emerge from Solar Min. You could even get into imaging with it....though that is not my area.
Finally remember, scopes hold their value...you don't 'spend' on a scope, it is merely a currency exchange from Euros to glass and metal.!!
Best of luck
Kevin

A solar scope is on my list of things to buyat some stage in the future. Right now when the weather during the day is good i just use my 90mm scope with a solar filter.
I know its nowhere near as good................but it does for now.
