Couple of months back I bought a skywatcher EQ6 mount from orionoptics in the uk. It was advertised as 'slightly damaged'. I managed to get it for 75 STG (they are 699 STG new). Basically all thats wrong with it are cosmetic scratches. Problem is I'm loading it with a 12.5inch reflector. The scope weighs 20kg as does the required counterweights. So the total load is 40kgs. The result is a bit stiff (not too bad but occassionally the motors stall). I am thinking of upgrading it with AWR technologys EQ6 Kit (When I can afford it)

Just wondering if anyone has experience with this mount or with the awr kit. What I'm hoping for is that the AWR kit will offer more in the way of torque. The other option is to take the mount to an engineering shop and see if they can install better bearings. Anyone know of a good engineering shop who would do smaller stuff like this.
Thanks in advance.
Clear Skies,
Dave.
