Have you seen Dave Groski's page?

I was tempted to try and build his 60mm h-alpha scope last year but chickened out in case I messed it up and ended up looking through a scope that let too much energy through

Let's not give up yet ... we can check things out by using our camera(s) as guinea pigs since their "eyes" are not as precious as ours.
I still have not given up on the idea of the modified PST.

I have been unable to get the filters for one of Dave's h-alpha scopes. But it would be pretty hard to make a mistake building it. All of the blocking comes from the two tiltable filters and the Red Glass ERF.
Cheers!

I wrote that a couple of months ago. I am working on part 2 that describes the solid etalons used in DayStar and Solar Spectrum Filters.

I'm looking forward to that second article Colin. You're first one was very good.

Welcome on board from me as well. It's a small world as I've followed your posts over on UKAI in the past
Hope you enjoy your stay!
By the way, how did the BF5 work out for you with your solar project? I see there is one for sale over on astrobuysell but not sure if it will give a decent fov.
