Hi all
I currently use a 127mm refractor set up, would there be much of an advantage to upgrading to a 150mm refractor?
I am purely a visual observer and is the extra 23mm worth the cost?

No.
Go for MUCH bigger aperture.
Otherwise you will wonder why you spent the money.
I speak from experience.
My newer 6 inch refractor (Excellent Celestron RGT) is OPTICALLY about the equal of my ancient Meade 8 inch SCT.
So I paid for the "Go To" and nothing else much.
(The refractor draws all the attention though, just because it looks so awesomely handsome.)
P.S.
There is an exact optical analogy:
Upgrading from a 50mm binoculars to a 60mm binoculars.
Not an earth shattering progression.

Fully agree there with Mark, not worth it, the aperture step up is small.

As much as i know (which is NOT a lot)..................i would not think the small difference is worth the cost.
Give or take..............they are essentially the same size apeture...with regards to quality of vision and sharpness of image.
If the difference can be measured in whole inches...........................then go for it but fractions of inches................NOPE..................certainly not.
