Hey guys -- I just posted an article on building an open-air permanent pier for solar observing. Might also be of interest to night-time viewers wanting something more permanent than a tripod but not wanting to go all the way to an observatory.
Oh, and it has a good "wife appreciation factor" as well. Check it out, it's in the DIY section of the Articles.
(Any feedback on the article would also be appreciated.)
Cheers,
-- Jeff.

Well done Jeff. It looks the biz.
How about a removable sundial top?

Frank --
Indeed, a removable sundial would be easier to mount. My problem was that I already had one of those. In fact, it was that (non-removable) sundial that gave me the idea!
