STG£ heading for parity with Euro? was created by Calibos
Just read that the British pound might weaken to the point of parity with the euro within a few weeks.
That £1050 16inch Lightbridge is looking very tempting at €1050 (1200 atm)!! IIRC it was about 2400 this time last year when I bought my Orion XT12i and 1600 just a few short months ago. What I lost with the strengthening dollar by not ordering a Lightbridge servocat/argo kit a few months ago when I was talking about this (about 300 more expensive at todays rates) I have more than gained back with the weakening pound on the price of the scope itself.
I may actually pull the trigger sooner rather than later on this before the pound strengthens again. Knight Rider (aka Obsessionator Jnr.) here I come!

Don't get the Lightbridge Keith, watching you pack the three tons of equipment you bring out into the field into the back of your small car is a joy to watch:laugh: A scope that breaks down just won't be any fun.

Doh! , don't know what I was thinking. Where did I get the Ethos for 350 from??
How about dem 'Naglers'........for 350
Nah, you'd still want to be a lotto winner to get the full range of Ethos. Say one wanted to kit oneself out with Naglers and 1 Ethos though. Which would be the one to go for. I would have thought the longest FL EP ie the 17mm My thought process would be whats the point of an Ultra wide FOV of dim fuzzy stars due to the high mag of the shorter FL EP's. I'd want a wide FOV of the brightest sharpest pointiest stars:laugh:
AM I wrong though. Is there something I have not thought of?
Paul, Its a sight to behold isn't it! Even more impressive was I got everything into the TT bar the Collapsible scope trolley/EP table on the Venus Occultation expedition. Really wanted to bring the Ep table to Ballyremon though and thats why I took the Brothers A3. Aubrey couldn't believe all the gear came out of the TT that day. The thing was though that I got it into the TT no problem on the way out but packing away for the trip home I had Michael chuckling beside me as I scratched my head trying to close the boot lid. "It fit for the trip out, it Has to fit for the trip back"
It'll be great when the new project is finished though. No more head scratching ever. It should all fit in the TT no problem. I'm not worried about the fever either. The views through Phils scope were fabulous but I felt my 12in gave a very good acccount of itself. A 16in should be all I'll ever want or need. In fact its no longer about apeture with the 16in anymore, more of a 'might as well' especially seeing the price in euros fall so close to 1000 and I want to motorise a scope and have a truss to fit it in the car. I'd actually be very happy with a 12in truss now but like I said, I might as well get the 16.
