Where to buy EP,s was created by dmolloy
While on the subject of Buying and selling. I bought a Telrad finder from Astroshop.de last week and received it yesterday. This was of course after it was delivered to the wrong address - resulting in a detective story with me searching the village last night. Anyway I learnt that I should have shopped around. It cost me 74 Euro inclusive of postage. Seen it in a UK dealers for £32.00 afterwards.
There ya go, bargins to be had If I was smart enough to wait:(
Anyone know who are presently the cheapest for quality EP's???? - thinking of splashing out a X-mas
Signed
very p##d off

Check out Andy McCrea in Northdowntelescopes.
www.northdowntelescopes.co.uk/
Has the advantage at the moment of the strength of euro against sterling.
I have found him very reliable with a great service and generally good value.

Also consider Telescope Service. Check out what's on offer on their new website:
www.teleskop-express.de/shop/index.php?cat=c5_Zubehoer.html
The Deutsche Post shipping option is good value for money and quite efficient.

The U.S. is starting to look like a good option for purchases again. The Euro peaked in July at $1.60 then slumped in early December to only $1.23. In the last week it has strengthened to $1.41, making purchases from American suppliers worthy of consideration again.

Woah!! Totally missed that developement.
I had been a bit down about not ordering a servocat/argo system from the states a few months ago when the USD/Euro rate was so much in our favour. Price of the system went up by about 300-400 euro due to strengthening dollar. My spirits were lifted however the other day when it turned out that the other piece of equipent that would ultimately be paired with the servocat (Lightbridge 16) had actually dramatically fallen due in part to a large UK discount but also the weakening pound. ie I would more than make back the hypothetical loss on the servocat by saving so much on the Lightbridge. 2400 euros in most of Europe. Myself and Artyfarty(John) both just picked up an LB16 each for 1080 euros!
I feel even better after hearing this news. I wont have made anywhere near as much of a hypothetical loss as I thought.
Any idea what the trend is. I suppose if it went from 1.20 back up to 1.40 in the space of a week it could also reverse again just as quickly.
Might get in trouble if another bit of equipment arrived in the post so quickly after the scope. How would one go about locking in some dollars at that exchange rate. Is it worth holding on a bit longer to see if it gets any better?

Thanks for that info lads,Teleskopexpress Germany looks good. Those Hyperions look tasty...and a wee step up from my box of Celestron's.
Maybe a 5mm and a 13mm might be a good purchase, or is the 5mm a bit small? (telescope f5 10" Dobson) Anyway, 109 Euro each! not including postage sounds reasonable, oder nichts.
Declan.....Time flys like an arrow, fruit flies like bananas
