GPS and CGE was created by wellbuttie
Greetings...

Recently I won a voucher for One of the Phone type gadget providers in the country..... lucky me!!

However, they also sell the Car Navigation GPS systems. I dont really need one, however, if one of these GPS devices could be modified to integrate with my CGE Mounts GPS capability, I could be tempted to invest my voucher in One.

Has anyone had any experience with such a setup for a CGE Mount?

Merry XMas!!

That's an interesting question Steve, what made you think that an ordinary GPS device could be connected to a GPS scope mount?

Don't forget that an in-car GPS is going to need an external power source. It probably wouldn't be a major issue if you already have a powertank but it would be an extra drain on it.

John I seriously doubt if this would be possible. Most consumer electronic devices use a proprietory protocal to communicate with its accessories. Your GPS or a CGE would be no different. You would also seriously risk any warranties on both devices if you tried this.

I'm usually not afraid of tinkering with stuff. But I wouldn;t recommend going down the road you propose.

That's a good point. I was assuming a standard communication protocol but if it's proprietary then it's a non-runner.
