Celestron introduce CGE-Pro Mount was created by DaveGrennan
Something I've been following on cloudy nights forum for a while. I note today Celestron have introducted a new mount.
www.celestron.com/c3/product.php?CatID=16&ProdID=549
I have managed to find out that this is in fact an all new mount in addition to the CGE 'classic', not a replacement.
Some of the more interesting new features.
Increased load capacity 90lbs compared to 60lbs. Given that the old CGE could realistically only handle 55lbs, I would expect the new CGE pro to be able to handle around 80lbs.
Uncorrected PE is +/- 9 arcsecs (amplitude) (compared to around 15 arcsecs)on the CGE classic.). Can be further reduced with PPEC.
You can read the rest of the specs from the site.
I havent heard a euro price yet but one US retailer is advertising it for 4999USD (compared to 3000USD for the CGE classic) Assuming a factor of 1.6x based on the US prices this would bring the CGE Pro in around 6100STG as compared to 3674STG for the CGE classic)
I'm looking forward to seeing one up close at some point. Apparently they begin shipping in Feb (according to CN).

One other thing of interest I noticed. The new mount head weighs 75lbs compared to 45lbs for the classic version. So portability is probably a no-no given that the existing CGE is probably just about portable.

Telescopes Services in Germany were quoting €1649 before xmass for it and add carrige to that. The CGEM also needs a Losmandy Dovetail plate so more expense.

The CGEM is another mount, except smaller than the CGE - more like an upgraded EQ6.
This CGE Pro appears to be another new mount, except larger than the CGE.
According to the Celestron website, the CGE Pro weighs 154 lbs...that's 70kg!!
With a 90lb capacity it would be similar to the Gemini G41 Obs+ mount I have.
The C14 is quite light compared to Meade 16" SCT for example.
I wonder are Celestron plnning to launch a larger SCT...
Celestron are certainly busy boys...
Michael.

As Michael quite rightly said, don't confuse the CGE Pro with the CGEM. Two completely different animals. The CGEM is basically the upgraded CG5 and the CGE Pro is an upgraded CGE. I also understand that all four mounts are to be retained.
Michael the 154lb weight is including the tripod. The mount head is 75lbs on its own.
I often wondered if Celestron would come out with a C-16 but I haven't seen any suggestion as yet.

Opps stand corrected. Price on rechecking was for the CGEM. Oh so much choice now.
