Hyperion's was created by dmolloy
well, they arrived yesterday DHL. Two Hyperions - 8mm and 17mm. Now, as there is "new scope Weather" there is obviously "new Eyepiece Weather" too. But Looking at reviews of these particular eyepieces on various web sites, the overview of most who have bought them seems to be positive. - will report in due course on how they are...telescope 10" dob

Hi Declan, I have the 17mm Hyperion. I'm very happy with both the quality of the build and the views through it. I'd highly recommend investing in the 14mm extension ring that converts the 17mm into a 13mm eyepiece with no drop in quality. It's like getting a second eyepiece for very little extra cash.

Is this extension ring some sort of low power barlow ?

Hi Dave,
The extension rings don't contain any glass. The design takes advantage of the Smythe lens group of the Hyperion, which acts as a focal reducer and is contained within the 1.25" barrel (5mm through 21mm only). When you put the extension ring between the Smythe lens group and the field lens in the main body it reduces the focal length further.

Thanks, I will look into that extension ring business, I read something or other about it on the Blurb before I made my mind up. They seem like solid lumps of technology - and might be a step up from my plosels:)
Can't wait to give them an outing

I haven't used a 26mm Plossl since I got my 24mm Hyperion, and I have several that came with different scopes.
