Complete astrophotography kit was created by johnomahony
After owning my CGE 11 for 2.5 years I now thought it was time that it was upgraded to do proper astrophotography complete with full autoguiding.
I picked up a Megrez 72 APO from Ian King for use as am imaging scope and as a guiding scope for the C11. My ADM mini-dove tail arrived from the US today (again, no customs payable. I thought of getting this in the UK but the dealer mark up is outrageous). It looks very solid despite its light weight-no sign of flexure at all.
The dovetail and scope required an extra counterweight. I picked up an 11 lb weight for a Losmandy G11 which works a treat. Its much cheaper than the celestron weights and looks and feels better too.
Here is a shot of the complete kit. A Shoestring GPUSB is on its way and I aim to use my DFK camera for autoguiding. I only wish it was August/ September so I could get to use it.:silly:

John - with the weather we're having, now is a great time to get the kit working as a whole. Its a nice setup - it would be nicer to get it working now than get some drop-dead clear skies in August only to find you need a few nights to "tweak" it...
Presumably, with all your new purchases, the current spell won't last long...

Nice set up now John.
Careful what you wish for..
The crappy weather will roll around soon enough! :silly:
I'm actually starting to get quite envious of your impending
move to OZ!
If you need to offload any gear to make your suitcase lighter
I live very near the airport.
