Webcam not Vista Compatible.. was created by Graham
Hi All,
I have an old webcam a Logitech Clicksmart 420
www.logitech.com/repository/450/jpg/3474.1.0.jpg
Basically its not vista compatible and I have tried everything I could find but still wont work with vista.
Since so many people here are webcam modders I was wondering if its possible to dis-assemble this camera, remove/mod features that vista dosent like and use the camera as only a webcam in its simplest form?
I was going to attach it to a finderscope or something.... basicly do something rather than bin it or give it away!
Is there hope for this cam on vista??

Hi Graham,
I am no software expert but I know that in some instances this has worked for me with certain hardware / software issues under Windows Vista OS.
Just wondering if you have tried the 'XP compatibility mode' on Vista OS. It basically allows software / drivers / hardware to operate under Win XP in the Vista environment, its worth a try as it is the easier route than what you are suggesting.
Clear skies
Mike

Hi,
There is a similar problem with the philips toucam, not vista compatible.
There is hack you can do to its drivers to get it working on vista, there might e a similar routine for your webcam, you should do some searches on the web for one.
I did this originally before I gave up on vista and regressed back to XP, best thing to do really.

Vista - Shimista.
I bought a new laptop reciently and just wiped it
clean of that Vista filth and re installed XP.
Nearly every bit of hardware and a lot of
progs I have had some issue with Vista.
I know some of the issues are solvable but you have to
go looking for hacks and cracks as Dave said and
I'm well gone beyond those days.
It either has to work out of the box or it's in the bin
as far as I'm concerned.
I too would vote for a vista purge.

I know vista is the biggest POS!!
I wonder if Windows 7 is gonna be any better?
It couldnt be any worse!!
hmm.... I hope MS dont take that as a challenge!
Cheers for all the help but am not gonna bother with the cam, I know someone who needs one so will drop it over to him.
