oh man, thats very impressive, a drive system and the motorised eyepiece position system!! he even went to the bother of making his own finder, But I'm not sure if I'd like having to walk so far away form the eyepiece to use the finder on the side of the scope, I'd have it nearer to the eyepieces.
One thing I always wondered about was would heat from your head interfere with the light entering the tubes with these binoscopes as they are fairly nearby, also many ATMers say that the altitude bearing should be 1.4 times the scopes aperture, he went for simple bar type bearings, I wonder how that would affect stability.
Its the same light gathering power as a 23" scope with a binoviewer, but obviously this is more portable.
Notice that the guy is wearing a back support, he must have hurt himself putting it togther.

Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better programs, and the universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the universe is winning.

I think I would have a wider board across that ditch, in the dark I imagine it would be too easy to miss it and go plunging down.
With the shaking it took to get it into position the collimation had to be way off.

Pea-shooters when compared to this baby
It's the frontage of the Chiat/Day advertising building that I photographed near Venice Beach in L.A. ... pretty amazing!
Nice finding those articles on real monster binoculars! I've a pic somewhere of 20-inch binoculars that someone at RTMC in California had one year. We didn't get to look through them unfortunately. JMI also had these binoculars at RTMC another year ...
See you all next weekend in Ballyvaughan!
