Hey Dave
How have you found vibrations traveling up from the ground they must surely get damped down with the sheer mass of the pillar?
Thanks
Mike

No, because the wooden floor in the dome is not sitting on the concrete that the pillar is sitting on, there is no vibration transmission.
I'd have to kick the pillar to see any vibration through the eyepiece, and at that it's short lived.

Thanks jeff and Dave.
Never thought of tensioned wire, will consider it. I will make a plan that includes tensioned wire (should be easy to weld some rings onto the pillar), however will do some tests with and without the wire.
I definitely have enough to make a plan here so again thanks for the input.
When i have completed the pier i will report back to this thread with the final results!
