I stumbled on this today - its been a developing story over the past year on other forums.
In short a Hungarian company has developed very sensitive encoder that fits into GEMs replacing the polar scope - and an external control box. It monitors very accurately any deviation in RA motion and corrects same through ST4.
Exclusive rights now held by Meade Europe / Bresser Germany.
MDA-Telescoop (that is the spelling) don't direct ship anymore.
Costs around €1300.

This one is in german:

It really only corrects the RA so good polar alignment is required. In reality autoguiding is still required for long exposures due to differing optical effects as one crosses the sky.
The Meade site indicates that the following mounts are supported:
Celestron CGE
Losmandy G11
HEQ5 Synta
EQ6 (old version)
EQ6 (new Version)
Vixen GPDX
Astro Physics 1200
LX200 8" up to 14"
Might interest.
