Distilled Water was created by albertw
Hi,
It's mirror cleaning time again for me. Last time I cleaned a mirror I could get distilled water in any petrol station. I tried 5 stations yesterday (including in Dublin port which I thought was a sure bet!) but none have distilled water. One had a bottle of bettery top up water which as far as I could work out was deionised not distilled. Thats what halfords have also apprently.
Does anyone know where I can get a bottle of distilled water?
Failing that, has anyone tried deionised water for cleaning before? Does it leave a residue? If I remember my chemistry classes deionised water should have the metals taken out but may still have suspended organic compounds - so I guess it depeends on the quality of the water they used to make it.
Thanks,
~Al

I usually get it from Barnetts Chemist in DunLaoghaire down near Bloomfields and Argos if thats any help. Think it was about €6 for 5 Litres. 'Pure Water' is whats on the bottle, if I remember the name of the manufacturer I will let you know.

Deionised water should be perfectly OK, any organic material present would be at extremely low levels. I work in UCD and can get you as much as you want, free, if it is convenient to meet in the South Dublin area. PM me if you wish.
