Denkmeier, whom many of you know as makers of binoviewers, have linked up with a company called Spectrum Thin Films and are entering the solar filter market.

Spectrum Thin Films have provided optical coatings for major observatories, NASA and optical companies and their work includes manufacturing the coatings for the Mars Phoenix Lander Video Camera & Microscope.
At present, Denkmeier are offering upgrades to the PST - a means of converting it to a 60mm h-alpha scope.
However, later this year or in early 2011, they plan in launching dedicated h-alpha filters down to 0.2A bandwidth.
Interesting times ahead - which is great for the consumer as the technology improves and coompetition increases, it will mean better filters for less money.
