I'm in Galway & need a power pack for a cg5gt.
Is there anywhere locally that sells these?

What about the Halfords Power Pack 100 for €90.
Would this be a good buy?

Perfect.
Just be warned.
Fully charge before first use,
Always recharge after every use
and don't ever run it dry of power.

It should be grand for years then.
One other thing,
if you store it during down time
always check it for power levels and recharge as needed.

I've gone through 3 Halfords power packs so I've learned the
hard way.

I have been using the Halfords Power Pack 100 with a CG-5 for about six months and it works very well. It has never come close to running down even after many hours of use. I found that the cigarette lighter adapter has to be positioned quite carefully in the Power Pack to ensure a good secure contact. Before I realised that, the power suddenly cut out on a few occasions, which was extremely frustrating. Now that I'm aware of that issue, it has worked flawlessly. With hindsight I might have chosen the more sophisticated Halfords battery pack that also has an inverter, so that a PC could be powered from it also.

I have used the halfords power packs for about 3 years now with my cge mount. They are a good buy. As frank stated, recharge them fully after each use and don't recharge them if frozen. Dont bother with the pack with the inverter - not enough juice to last for long.

You can tell he is an astronomer when......the first thing he does when his house contents arrive in Australia is pull out the powerpacks and charge them up!!
Actually after a 9 week trip they both still had a green light indicator before charging- not bad for 3 year old powerpacks. The trick is to charge them fully after each use.
