Misbehaving CGE Mount - not finding RA switch position was created by ChrisMcCauley
Hi,
I've had a few occasions recently where my CGE mount wouldn't find the RA switch position when starting up - it just slewed until it hit the end point (or I stopped it). Unplugging the cables and reconnecting has 'fixed' it but now I'm not sure if this is a temporary glitch or the sign of a real problem. Any ideas what would cause the switch position to be missed?
Thanks
Chris

Hi Chris,
I had the same problem with my CGE sometime ago. First of all make sure the bearing is running along the grove in the RA axis.if It's loose you need to open up the cover for the RA.. Loosen the two screws of the bearing with an allen key push the wheel bearing tight up against the RA axis and tighten. Now turn on the mount and let it go to the switch position.all should be cool if you have any problems let me know.
Carl.

Hi Chris, the same with me as Carl will know, I had repeat problems with the declination switch, it turned out that the cable connection was a little loose and have had no problems since, so your not the only one
Hopefully as Carl says all will be well after that...
Keith.

Thanks Keith and Carl,
Hopefully it is just a loose connection - there are many complaints about the quality. Given that reconnecting and connecting has "fixed" the problem a few times then that is likely to be it, also if I rotate the aixs by hand, I can hear the switch clicking.
Fingers crossed.
