Compact Dob was created by johnomahony
I got to have a look at one of these instruments last night which had only just been received from the manufacturer. Its a 22" F3.6 truss tube dob made by SDS telescopes in Victoria.
The build quality was superb and second to none. No ladder required even at 90 degrees and it fitted comfortably in the back of a small MPV. Full servocat and argo navis -not cheap though.

Unfortunately I didn't get to look through it as the weather clouded out (its been cr*p since I got here): angry:

A pity about the weather there John,
He took a Steve Kennedy mirrors, thee best apparently, a real pity you didnt get a view through it.
Thats a real nice scope, impressive focal length aswell, I'd get over using a paracorr.
but at over 14k euros, thats a heafty price!
Its interesting to see its similar to Krieges obsession design,

I was out last night at the clubs public astrophotography night as part of the national science week. They do a lot of public outreach at their observing site. Well, when I saw the gear that arrived I was drooling at the mouth. These guys as seriously astro hard core. There are a few guys who make their own mirrors and scopes. Not content to just make scopes, I saw a homemade and home programmed altaz goto mount on a fully hand made dob that gave argo navis/ servocat a run for its money. Several dobs over the 20" mark, and top end imaging cameras.
Given that astro gear is very expensive here I was amazed to see so much top end equipment-and on a public night with lots of kids around. As soon as the kids arrived, out came my crappy eyepieces!!!
