Powerline Ethernet Adapters was created by michaeloconnell
I'm looking for a twin pack of powerline ethernet adapters to extend my broadband connections out to my observatory.
I did have an ethernet cable running out there but had to move the router and so that is no longer an option.
Anyone have any experience of using these?
Anything I should watch out for when buying them?
I presume the 200 mbps ones are better than the 85 mbps.
Thanks,
Michael.

Hi Michael,
I am currently using Devolo dlan 200 AVplus adapters in my home. I get upto 200 Mbit/s throughtput with no latency and they have an intergrated power socket. I paid around €210.00 for 2 of them as a starter kit.
Very easy to setup, and I've tested with both DHCP and static addresses assigned and no problems!
A good buy!

Thanks Tom.
They sound a bit expensive.
I have seen them selling for €70-80.
I will look into them in a bit more detail.
Cheers,
Michael.

I bought the Netgear 200mbps pair of powerline Ethernet adapters today.
Cost 120euro in PC World.
Plugged into a socket in the bedroom near the router and into a power socket in the observatory.
Works really well.
I have 3Mbps broadband package at home and when I tested the internet speed on the observatory pc, I was getting download rates of 2800kbps.
Works a treat.
